The purpose of this project is to answer following questions; including, do diets actually work, can diets, with exercise, show significant results after 1 month, and is there a diet that can maintain muscle mass while losing fat? The two diets that I will be trying are the keto diet and intermediate fasting. At the beginning of each month I will record my weight, my mood, and submit a picture of myself to compare afterwards. Each day I will provide my meals for the day as well as how many calories I burned and the type of workout I completed. After 1 month is finished I will record my final weight, mood, and compare how I looked before and after. I will then begin the next diet. After 2 months are complete I will compare the results from both diets as well as research symptoms/outcomes of diets and compare them to my own. To make sure each diet experience is similar I will develop a workout plan and make sure it is the same each week. Ex: (Arms- Mon/Wed Legs-Tue/Thur) Overall this project is a diet journal and will include experiences based on research and my personal experiences.

When thinking of what class to do an honors contract for I immediately chose KINE-N220, Nutrition for Health. As I grew older I became more fascinated in the world of food and nutrients. When I started working out I wanted to gain muscle and lose body fat. I researched in my free time about various types of foods that could help me reach my goal. In the past, I have tried different diets, learned more about macronutrients/micronutrients, and developed a better understanding. I am earning a certificate in nutrition because it is something that I am passionate about and want to continue to educate myself on the topic. Trying different diets seemed like the best choice because it is interesting to see the impacts food has on our body, especially when you limit an important macronutrient, like carbohydrates in the keto diet.
